Common connectivity issues that can interfere with Norton Autofix

Your device should be on a stable Internet connection to use Norton Autofix. You can use the following checks to restore your network connection:

  • Find out that your network cable is accurately connected.
  • Find out that your wireless settings are flawlessly connected.
  • You will need to check if your network adapter is correctly configured.
  • Next, check if your DSL or cable modem is connected to your device.
  • Also, you have to seek a quick check on the parental controls to avoid the blockage of internet connection due to inappropriate settings.
  • Make sure that the Network Cost Awareness option has clear settings of No Traffic.

(Note: Network Cost Awareness allows you to control the bandwidth used by the Norton. By default, Network Cost Awareness is enabled and set to Auto. In Windows 7 or earlier, the default setting is No Limit. In case you have a slow Internet connection, you can lower the bandwidth that Norton uses.)

  • Make sure Norton Firewall settings are turned On to allow traffic.
  • In case your network makes use of proxy servers to connect to the Internet, LiveUpdate uses the proxy settings in your Norton product to download the latest updates. You can use the Network Proxy Settings option in the Administrative Settings window for the configuration of the Proxy settings of the network you were using.

Other issues that often cause Autofix problems

  • Try to free up some disk space on the drive that has your Norton product.
  • Make sure that your device’s date and time are correct.
  • Lookout, whether the Apply updates only on the reboot option is ready to be in the settings. This option is supportable only for the devices having a Windows 7 operating system or any other latest version.

View or fix device security risks that Norton detects

Whenever Norton discovers any security risk or unusual circumstances, it automatically

removes it, unless it requires your input to understand by what ways you would like to resolve the risk. In case you require to give input, Norton shows a Threats Detected alert or Security Risk alert with on-screen instructions on how to respond to the security risk.

View risks automatically resolved during a scan

  • Visit Norton’s official website.
  • In case you see the My Norton window, just near the Device Security, tap the cursor Open.
  • You can find the Security option in Norton’s main window, tap on that Security, and then on History.
  • In the Security History window, in the Show drop-down list, choose Resolved Security Risks.
  • Choose a risk in the list, then in the Details pane, view the action that was taken.

Fix unresolved risks detected during a scan

In few cases, Norton does not use its automated features to resolve a risk but recommends an action for you to take to resolve the risk.

Fix unresolved risks detected during a scan

Open Norton’s official website.

In the My Norton window, next to the Device Security, find and tap the cursor over Open.

Afterward, you will be redirected to the Security History window; in the Show drop-down list, choose Unresolved Security Risks.

Then, choose a risk in the list in case there are unresolved risks shown.

Follow the suggested Action in the Details pane.

(Tip: Sometimes, you might require to restart your computer after Norton resolves a security risk. In case Norton gives your on-screen instructions to restart your computer, you must save any open files first and then go to restart your computer.)
