Therefore, Sony became the first company to own Crackle TV, or say Grouper.

Sony sold most of Crackle TV’s stakes to Chicken Soup for Soul Entertainment in 2019. On December 15, 2020, Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment acquired the remaining stakes also and grabbed full rights of Crackle TV. So the current owner of Crackle TV is Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment.

If you have ever heard about the Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment book series, it belongs to the Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment company. The first book of this series inspired people with incredible true stories of ordinary people’s lives. This book was a best-seller of its time and changed the perspective of a large community of people about specific topics.

Each book of the series follows the same idea, but the theme varies. Now, Chicken Soup for the Soul Publishing publishes around a dozen books every year. History of Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment Company

Two motivational speakers, Mark Victor Hansen and Jack Canfield came together to write the first-ever Chicken Soup for the Soul series book in 1993. It compiled of true and inspirational stories of some of their audience members. All the major publishers of New York rejected this book. Finally, a self-help and small publisher called HCI in Florida accepted their book.

Mark Victor Hansen and Jack Canfield were delighted with their book’s success and hence decided to launch other books in the same series with HCI. After the success of their Chicken Soup for the Soul titles, they published for specific demographics as well. One example of their specific demographics-based titles is Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul. It came out in 1997 and became a major best-seller.

Since the publishing of the first Chicken Soup for the Soul title, so many books have been released regularly by Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment under the same title. Today, the series contains around 300 books.

Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment founders Mark Victor Hansen and Jack Canfield sold the company to an ownership group led by Robert D. Jacobs and William J. Rouhana. They sold it in 2008.

It was under this new ownership group that the company expanded to cover other products as well. Now, the company started selling pet food also under the brand name Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul. It offered food products under the brand name Chicken Soup for the Soul. Their food department included a number of sauces, soups, and other ready foods.

Very few hardcore Chicken Soup for the Soul title lovers know the fact that author Adeline Lee Zhia Ern plagiarised a story from Chicken Soup for the Soul IV. The name of the story was Happiness, and the plagiarism was found in 2009.

The company announced, in 2013, that it will produce a movie and tv series with Alcon Entertainment. Not only with Alcon Entertainment but Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment has worked with other partners as well in the tv programming field. It bought a majority of the A Plus website’s stakes in 2016.

The first time that Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment went public was in 2017. Currently, Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment owns Screen Media Ventures, LLC, and Popocornflix. Screen Media Ventures is one of the major global independent TV and film distribution companies. Popcornflix is very similar to Crackle TV and offers an online video service while supporting ads.

On March 28, 2019, Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment bought a majority of the stakes of Crackle (then Sony Crackle) from Sony Pictures Television. Then, as we mentioned earlier as well, on December 15, 2020, Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment purchased full rights of the Crackle TV and became its sole owner.
